• 3rd Prize – Signed Michael Vaughan Canvas - Mark Sutherland
Finally as always there are a couple awards which are not team based but sit within the larger scheme of the whole club.
The first of these is the Colt of the Year award which this year was shared between Ryan Funnell and Chris Searle. Ryan has played U17, U19, Sunday Friendly, Sat 3rd & 2nd XI cricket this season keeping wicket & scoring runs for all teams as well as being involved in the admin and running of many games. While Chris has this year played in the only the U17 & U19 sides, this however is due to his commitments playing for Hampshire 2nd XI, Development sides and also being selected for the Super 4s tournament; an ECB regional tournament for the best U17 players in the country!! Well done to both Ryan and Chris on their fantastic achievements!!
Last but definitely not least we come to the Club Person of the Year award, given annually to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the club off of the field of play.
The award this year went to our Bar Manager Justin Dillon. For those who do not know, Justin only started playing cricket during the 2015 season after getting talking with Geoff Young in a local Pub. This past off-season Justin volunteered to take on the handling of the bar, and to say the improvement in set-up, offering and takings have been staggering would be an understatement. There have been many occasions where the club as been busy until late into the night with players, their partners and colts parents, seeing takings across the season double from last year!! Well done and thanks to Justin for his amazing contribution, we look forward to seeing the bar next year in the newly refurbished pavilion!
Thanks to everyone who attended for their great support - Winter Well!!
