Kew 1st XI vs Bagshot 1st XI 12/8/2017
Kew 146 all out beat Bagshot 110 all out by 36 runs
Trip into the big smoke to play at Kew in the first of the remaining win/lose matches. We arrived to see a very patchy outfield and a slow looking wicket. Toss won again, we decided to field as we were waiting for JG to finish work. We started with nine as Roomy didn't check the start time, I took a wicket in each of my first three overs to leave the hosts reeling, before Brad took the dangerous opener via a great spiralling catch at long off by Adam. A frustrating partnership between 5 and 6 was broken by a comedy run out which opened things up for us. Jonny bowled a fantastic spell 10 overs for 21 with two wickets and young Josh Balcombe also bowled excellently 10 overs for 35, unlucky not to bag a couple of wickets. Adam and Roomy finished the innings, Roomy bowling 1.2 overs 3 wickets!! Kew all out 146 and a vital win was within our grasp.
JG and Stu opened the batting with Stu facing the majority of the bowling of Kidron Thomas, the quickest bowler in the league. At the other end JG was scoring quickly, racing to 50 in quick time. They saw off Thomas, but Stu was out for a battling 12, Chris followed soon after chipping a full toss to mid-on, not to be outdone JG did the same falling for 70, and at 95-3 we were still favourites. Kew brought Thomas back in the attack and he took 3 quick wickets bowling Mikey, James and Adam. Brad then saw him off looking as comfortable as anyone, but fell the very next ball to the spinner, Josh and Jonny bowled by the other opener in the same over to see us limp to 110 all out.
Results above us didn't go our way, so we need 3 wins from our last three games to see us have any chance of staying up.
Only shining light is availability strong for the rest of the season.
MOM JG, batting looked a different game to him.
