Bagshot U9 Shots v Camberley U9 Leopards
By Michael White
U9 Shots off to wining start
Baggies turned out today for our game with two debutants, Sam and Essa.
We lost the toss and were put into bat, Amazing batting saw us amass 185 runs in our 20 overs whilst only losing 3 wickets (reducing us to 173).
Opening pair were Vilas (6) and Jonathon (14) who ran fantastic quick singles to give us a steady start, before Jonathon found the boundary and they set up a healthy score for the 2nd pair to add to.
Next up were Rhys (33) and Sam (13), who ran very well for singles and samshed quite a few boundaries. The score was mounting at the half way stage.
Essa (7) and Thomas (30) were next. Thomas hit boundary after boundary whilst Essa backed him up with well run singles, keeping the scoreboard ticking over.
Rian (6) and Ryan (29) continued to add runs through intelligent running and boundary hitting, keeping the momentum going right to the end of our innings.
After the break Camberley began very strongly hitting some excellent line and length bowling to the boundary. We stayed calm and with Thomas taking 2 great catches to reduce the damage done, Baggies began to take control.
A fantastic spell of accurate bowling brought the reward of 4 wickets for Rian, including an opportunity for a hat trick! Rian was backed up by 3 wickets each for Ryan and Thomas. The whole team contributed to the performance with Sam, Vilas and Rhys also taking a wicket each and Essa and Jonathon bowling very economically. Camberley were reduced to 116 for 13 (net 64 runs)
Our fielding was excellent. All the boys kept their concentration in the field, backed up each other well and stuck to their fielding positions as asked.
A very pleasing performance which proves that if you tuck your shirt in, take pride in yourselves and train hard we can make great improvements in our performance. Thank you boys for a marvellous mornings work.
