Bandits have it by 4

Impressive cricket all round.
The day started with a call to discuss what format we would play. I had an amazing response to the late call to get this game on with 20 confirming as available! It was decided pairs would be the most appropriate.
Splitting the teams and naming them was the first challenge of the day, oh and getting some work done! :-)
2nd challenge was to get a team sheet created and confirm the volunteer biscuit bringer and scorers. Thank you to Marie for getting the biscuits (and the others that offered. I'll take you up on those offers later in the season) and Amanda for scoring, ably assisted by the new scorer in the making Angela.
Players distributed between the 2 teams, ages analysed & added up (each team cumulatively 108 years old!) and pairs picked the teams were named Bagshot Bandits and Bagshot Outlaws.
With Ascot week this week leaving from work at the 'right' time was crucial. Thanks to Mike White, our colts manager, who set up the pitch and prepared a lot of the background stuff that we take for granted. Very much appreciated but often not communicated, thanks Mike!
Arriving at the ground counting the players in we were ready to start the game. A small change to the teams with the arrival of a 21st player and we were ready to go. Also, two making their hardball game debuts in Josh C & Vikram K.
The Outlaws opened the batting looking mean and ready to take it to the Bandits. The 1st batting pair of Ollie K & Harry D faced Jake E & Lucas R. The batsmen put on 24 runs with some beautiful shots but lost 3 wickets to some tidy bowling. All 3 wickets were taken by Jake.
In came pair 2 of Harry M & James S who faced the bowling of Charlie W & Rory C. The 2nd pair put on 23 losing 2 wickets one each to Charlie & Rory.
Pair 3 of Kian C & Luca McD, scoring 9, were bowled to by Kavin & Dylan M. The bowling was a little wayward with a few too many wides but did take 3 wickets. It may be obvious but there are more chances to take wickets with straight balls!
Pair 4, the youngest in the Outlaws, of Anay G & Josh C, faced George S & Vikam K. Some amazing bowling and batting from the 'youth' of the day. 9 runs scored but only 1 wicket lost to the bowling of Vikram.
In came the last pair of Yuvraj D & Chris W to face Yash N & Oli S. Some very good running between the wickets, to the deep set field, with this pair putting on 25 without the loss of any wickets.
Outlaws finished their innings on 291 for 9.
Drinks & biccies break over and the Bandits were ready to bat. In came Lucas R & Jake E to face Ollie K & Harry D. Some tidy bowling with 3 wickets falling and 15 runs scored by the batsmen.
Pair 2 of Charlie W & Rory C set about the bowling of Harry M & James S scoring 29 runs without losing any wickets.
Kavin & Dylan M came to the crease, scoring 6 and losing 1 wicket to the bowling of Kian C & Luca McD. The bowling had room for improvement with a few too many wides bowled.
Time for the youngest pair from the Bandits team, George S & Vikram K to face Anay G & Josh C. They scored 13 and lost 2 wickets. George was very elegant and young Vikram was very impressive & brave especially with getting hit with ball on the finger and in the ribs. The bowling was fantastic with only 1 wide bowled.
The score was 267 for 6. The Bandits needed 25 without the loss of a wicket. Could they do it?
Before the final pair came out to bat, Thomas D and Vikram faced Josh C and James S. Some very tidy bowling restricted the batsmen who, unfortunately, didn't score any runs but protected their wicket and didn't lose any wickets. Time for the final pair of Oli S & Yash N to come to the crease. They faced the bowling of Yuvraj D & Chris W who are very pacy bowlers. The batsmen matched the bowlers with aggressive batting and scored 32 runs losing a wicket on the last ball.
The Bandits finished on 295 for 7.
A very good game of cricket played with great spirit and competitiveness. I was very pleased with the attitude and application of the boys and hope to be able to hold a game similar later in the season.
The man of the match was Josh C who fielded bravely, bowled and batted exceptionally well. Well done on your first hardball game.
Finally, a thank you to Glenn for umpiring with me.
