Hearts in mouth... Win awarded :-)

Revision: Game classed as Bagshot win! - What a great cricket match!
The match report still stands but the result has been confirmed and recorded as a Bagshot win after review of scorecards. Disappointingly we get a point deducted as the result submission was late!
We arrived at Sunbury on a bright and sunny morning. Toss duly lost and put into the field, which is what we wanted as we were going to lose a couple of players to a party.
We also welcomed to the team a new player who has recently signed for the club, Rory.
With no one volunteering to score, yours truly was left to do it. Thank god I took my glasses :-)
We opened the bowling very miserly giving very few away 15 after 3 overs. I think this Bagshot team were up for it to try & get their first win of the season! The 1st wicket fell in the 3rd overs which bought in their number 3. A very accomplished batter who scored a quick fire 33 before retiring. Is 3 our unlucky number? :-)
We shared the bowling round today with everyone bowling at least one over. Generally some good bowling and fielding from the Bagshot team holding the opposition to 105 for 7 off 20 leaving us a target of 106 to win. The pick of the bowlers were Chris and Alex, with Alex claiming 2 wickets for a miserly 2 runs in his 2 overs and Chris bowling 3 overs with 2 of them maidens for only 6 runs and a wicket
Achievable was our belief at the interval!
Off we went to bat with, what seemed like some confidence. The Sunbury openers were good and tidy taking a wicket in the 1st over. In came our number 3, Charlie, who started his inning with a 4 and kicked on. Soon after, in the 2nd over we were down another wicket and it seemed like it may be an early finish for the boys! Batters 4, 5 & 6 came and went without denting the score. In came number 7, Sam, who with Charlie had to leave early to get to a party. You would never know as they set about chasing down the target. We steadily edged forward with Charlie retiring on 32!. Maybe 3 isn't our lucky number!!! :-)
In came Yuvraj at number 8 off of a great batting performance in the previous match which unfortunately didn't continue. Number 9 came in and moved the score on supporting Sam but they couldn't build a partnership.
Alex, who doesn't believe he can bat!!!, came in at number 10 with instructions to get Sam on strike needing 26 from the last 5 overs. I don't know why he believes he can't bat as he went on to score a quick fire 14 before being bowled.
In came Rory, again with instructions to get Sam on strike with 11 needed from 2 overs. End of over 19 we were 102 needing 4 to win with Sam on strike. The over started with a no ball followed by a bye needing 2 to win from 5 balls. The next 2 balls were a dot and a wide.
Scores tied with 1 to win from 4 balls...The boys went for the win and we lost our last wicket. Under the new rules, retired batsmen can't come back in which may have seen us bring the victory home. So the game was recorded as a loss even though the scorecard reads Bagshot 105 for 9 off 19.3 overs.
Great performance from the team and an exciting finish to the match.
Man of the match was Alex with a tidy 2 overs and 14 runs.
Special thanks to our hosts Sunbury who were fantastic and Trevor for umpiring.
