Bagshot U17's V Wood Street U17's
Good win to finish off the U17 season.
Bagshot U17's 102-7 off 20 overs
Wood Street U17's - 79-6 off 20 overs
Toss won, and not wanting to bat in the dark, Jack R chose to bat first. Welcoming back Ajeet Dale from a broken finger. he opened with Ben White, who has now secured this opening spot with some fine performances this season. The wicket looked to be slow and runs were hard to come by as the Wood Street openers contained the batsmen pretty well.
Aj fell first trying to play into the leg side and getting a leading edge, and to be honest all our batsmen then got in and got out at fairly regular intervals but we managed to accumulate 102 off our 20 overs. Quite of few got to double figures, but then got out! Not an easy target, but you would think it was reasonably achievable unless we bowled and fielded well.
However, as I disappeared off from the game for a prior engagement, I have no real clue how the second half went apart from regular text up-dates from Barrie who was umpiring!
Again from the stats, it looked like all the bowlers were bowling really well!
Harrison, Adam and Josh got a wicket each, for not very many, Aj bowled 4 overs for only 7 runs, Will Gardiner only went for 11 runs off his 4 overs and skipper Jack got two wickets for 9 off his 3 overs as the pressure mounted on Wood street to catch the run rate.
the game closed with Wood Street some 24 runs short of victory.
A great way to finish the league season. Well done all. I look forward to seeing most of you playing senior cricket for the remainder of the season if not for the U19's who still have a few games left!
Thanks to Barrie and Mike White for umpiring/scoring, the parents who have been terrific all season, and the players obviously.
