On a damp and dreary day we welcomed Ruislip to the home of cricket, toss duly won and the visitors were inserted. I took a wicket second ball and Rummage removed the number three with only 1 run on the scorecard, we sensed an early finish with the impending rain.
The skipper dug in, and made a useful 40 before Adam had him lbw, and at 73-6 we had them reeling. Two decent partnerships later and we were chasing 167, some clean hitting combined with some poor bowling contributed to it. Adam finished with 4 wickets from his 15 overs, without Will Grinstead and Jake Sunderland our attack was a little fragile, but fair play to Brad, Adam and the returning George Whatling we felt at tea we were in a good position.
The rain came down but we started pretty much on time, JG and Andrew got us off to a solid start with a 40 run partnership, no one really got going except Chris who battled himself back into form with a gutsy 70 not out off 105 balls, including 13 fours, wickets came and went around him, and at 108-5 the game was still in the balance. Brad joined Chris and a brisk 19 off 16 balls in a partnership of 61 saw us safely home and a vital 25 points, to move us up to second place in the table.
Some good moments today, but we need to stop bowling a "four ball" an over particularly at the tailenders, but the young bowlers will only learn as they are given opportunities.
MOM Chris Hollely for his match winning innings.
