Bagshot Sat 1st XI vs Hayes 1st XI

We welcomed fellow relegated Hayes to the BCC on a muggy and warm afternoon.
Toss lost again, we were asked to bat and got off to a steady start, Andrew and Jack seeing off the new ball before Andrew was out with the score on 27. Chris joined Jack and they steadily built a partnership, taking us to 92 before Jack was out for 55, Chris soon followed LBW for 25, Willow for 36, Mikey for 5 before Rummage came to the crease. Dropped off a not given no ball, he set about the bowling in swashbuckling style, smashing 5 sixes and 5 fours in an unbeaten 72 off 50 balls.
We finished on 242-8 from 52 overs.

In reply the visitors were soon in trouble, Will making an early breakthrough with his first ball, then another first ball of his second over we were very much on top, but then struggled to get the breakthrough until the introduction of Rummage again brought a reward, two quick wickets had Hayes at 64-4 with no real chance of the win.
We set very attacking fields in the hope of getting wickets, but they dug in well we took the 7th wicket second to last over and with three balls to go Will clean bowled the top scoring Haidur for 62, a hat-trick would have given us the win but it was not to be.
14 points we are still in second with a visit to table topping Datchet next week.
