Bagshot 1st XI vs OMT 1st XI

Final home game of the season saw us draw with OMT in a tense finish.

Toss lost we were asked to field, and bowled particularly poorly again fielding with 10 as Jack was late from work.
The introduction of Jonny A saw a halt to the onslaught, first wicket fell at 63, then a great run out from Adam after fumbling a catch saw no 3 out without facing, we had them 76-5 with Jonny snaffling the other four and were in the box seat again.
A forty run partnership put the game even again, before Will caught the dangerous no 7, but the turning point of the innings came when the no 8 was put down whilst in single figures, he then blasted a 50 to take the visitors passed 200. I bought myself back on replacing Jonny who again bowled exceptionally, and dismissed the opener Rawal for a well made 102, the no 8 53 and finally the no 10 to enable us to be chasing 228.
At one point we could have been chasing 300, then at 76-5 we could have been chasing 150, so 228 was achievable.

The plan was to keep wickets in hand and give ourselves as much chance as possible. Jack again looked great but perished for 48 out of opening stand of 84, Chris joined Doyle at the crease and the top 3 set the game up for our middle order. Sadly we could not quite keep enough wickets in hand, the middle order all made starts but couldn't finish the job it was left to 9/10/11 to get 20 off 4 overs, despite valiant effort we fell 5 runs short.

10 points gained but sadly the two rivals for promotion both won so we drop down to 3rd nine points behind second and 15 from top.

Fortunately both of them, Hayes and Amersham 2s, play each other next week, we travel to British Airways.
If we win we will go up unless their is an exceptional result between the top two.
