A disappointing weekend all round for the Adult section of the club, with all four sides suffering defeats. The build up to the games was hard as poor availability and late drop outs was frustrating, a big well done to the selection panel for raising four sides and not having to forfeit any matches was an achievement in itself.
The 1st XI travelled to Windsor in another tough encounter, last season these sides were two divisions apart, Windsor relegated from Division 1 as we gained promotion from Div 3.
Toss duly lost were asked to bat again, and found ourselves in trouble straight away, last weeks top scorer Geordie Doyle out second ball. JG soon followed at 2-2, Stu then Mikey soon followed along with Jem Davis. Brad battled away playing some fantastic shots, the pull off of the opening bowler the highlight. Andy Davis was given out caught behind, George and myself hardly troubled the scorers, with Jonny A not out as Brad was last man out for a 1st team high of 46. Bright future ahead for Brad batting like that for sure.
96 all out, pretty poor against some solid and steady but not spectacular bowling.
In reply Windsor started like a train, but Jonny A snaffled the pinch hitting opener with a good catch from Mikey on the fence, ball came like a tracer bullet he decided to use his chest rather than hands and bore the mark to prove it. Good news he didn't go on about it all day and night though!! Adam got a wicket via a fine stumoing from Penners, and then Mikey took one of the best catches i have seen in the 24 years i have played in the ones, a steepling catch running back towards the boundary and over his head was a great effort.
Sadly all in vain, Windsor cruised home by 7 wickets.
We welcome back Chris Hollely, Andy Johns and Alex Wilson to the side next week, with Geordie and JG missing.
Hopefully fortunes will change, no need to press the panic button just yet as we have played arguably the two best players in the division.
MOM pretty straightforward, Brad scoring almost half the runs.
A trip to Harefield next week already looking forward to the teas!!
