Bagshot 182-9 defeated Hayes 146 all out by 36 runs

We travelled to familiar foes Hayes on match day 7, couple of changes saw the skipper back and also the chairman Jem getting a run out too.
Surprise of surprises i actually won first toss out of 6, Adam telling me what to call is seemingly the way forward! Interesting What's app group chat in the week reference the opening slot vacated by Geordie. Jack suggested that if he didn't pass 50 we may as well give Hayes the points, Mikey volunteered the role, and Chris suggested i do it as would be no loss if i failed!! JG got his wish for Mikey to open, stating the main reason was running between the wickets. Ironically after a great start of 60-0 off 12 overs JG ran Mikey out!!
JG then fell to 2nd ball of skippers leg spin, Chris, Johnsy, Brad, Jem, Will and Adam fell in short space of time to leave us 99-8, fearing the worst, but cometh the hour cometh the men in the shape of Psycho and George, who accumulated the runs in sensible fashion, milking singles and punishing the bad ball in a stand of 82 that took us to 181-9, i came in at 11 to be non striker for one ball only. Innings finished at 182-9 off 52 overs. George 47 not out and Psycho 44, both career highs in the first team.
Sadly they fell a couple of runs short of the best ever 9th wicket stand held by yours truly and Roomy from 2009.

We made early inroads into the Hayes innings, Will and myself opening up, Will had no luck in his spell but i managed to snare two, including the big, big hitting no3. No 4 dropped off my next ball at second slip by Brad, his new look seemingly taking his mind off the job. No 4 then settled the innings and looked dangerous, George came on and took a couple of wickets, safe hands Mikey in the right place as he always seems to be this season, but with 65 needed with 6 wickets left and plenty of overs we were not confident. The no 4 was looking dangerous, so we had a ploy to stop his run scoring through midwicket placing two fielders there, which seemed to affect his concentration, and Adam bowled him to leave the game in the balance. Two quick wickets followed by Adam and Brad, and then Adam finished the game off taking the last three to give us our first win at Hayes in a few years. It was by far Adams best ever spell in his five years in the first team, really got an appreciation of the conditions and where to bowl, three bowled and 2 lbw in his 5-26.
A great win sees us move up to fourth place and not too far off the top, news that Windsor were deducted 65 points helping our cause.
MOM George Whatling for great innings at no 10, and a couple of wickets, with Adam and Psycho mighty close this week.
