We welcomed Maidenhead and Bray to the Bagga for the first time in many years, lots of discussion on whether to bat or bowl first but toss won for the second time in a row, we decided to bowl.
Not overly welcome by the boys who were at Ascot/the Brickies and Tru the night before though!!
Conditions seemed perfect for swing bowling, warm and overcast, but for some reason it hardly swung at all. Thus i was made to be very redundant without swing and bowled without any success. George also struggled with the new ball. The opening pair added 44 before Adam took up where he left off last week and took the first wicket, but sadly that was all for him. Ns 2 and 3 batted on and progressed the score to 126 before Psycho and Brad came on and stemmed the flow. Psycho took 3 wickets and Brad two, before the 8th wicket pair batted well taking the score from 192 to a very handy 257-7. Brad and Psycho tired late on and in hindsight may well have changed them before the carnage of the last four overs.
Tea taken, we set about the task of chasing down a big score on a quick outfield and very true wicket, Geordie perishing early for 16 before JG and Chris set about the bowlers, lots of boundaries in a partnership of 82, at over a run per ball, well over the required rate. Chris was caught behind for 39 when well set, soon followed by JG again passing 50 but short of a deserved ton, for 61. Johnsy again provided the middle order glue with a steady 24 not out, but Mikey/Psycho and Brad all fell in single figures to leave us 92 short with four wickets left. The rain then came, not forecast, and try as we might, we didn't manage to get back out and finish, match abandoned at 8pm.
Shame really as a good finish with all three results possible, we dropped a place to fifth.
MOM tough choice, but Psycho stopped rot taking 3 of top 5 batters, Brad and JG ran him close.
