We hosted Eversley at the Bagga with rain forecast, toss won for the first time at home this season, we decided to have a bowl with the uncertain weather. With this in mind Eversley set about taking the attack to the bowlers, i was hit out of the attack after 4 overs, George bowled ok from the other end, Brad replaced me and tried in vain, as did Jonny who replaced George. Adam came and went in a blur of runs, and Psycho eventually came on and bowled a tidy spell at the end. Brad took all 3 wickets, the visitors accumulating a massive 291 off 45 overs before declaring leaving us 47 overs to get the runs/salvage a draw.
In reply we started well, Geordie and Chris taking on the new ball hitting lots of nice boundaries before Chris fell for 26. Doyle carried on but was out for a fine 48, Johnsy fell to a superb slip catch, before Mikey and Brad came to the crease. Brad continued his battle with the overseas pro, taking on the short ball and standing up to what was thrown at him, while Mikey was playing his best innings of the season. Mikey fell on 52, soon joined back in the hutch for 42, and all of a sudden we were toiling with 12 overs to go and five wickets left. Psycho and Penners dug in for a bit before Penners nicked off, George perished soon after before Psycho was lbw still limoing after the overseas deliberately bowled him a knee high full toss.
I was out first ball followed by Jonny first ball to see us lose to a hattrick with only 2 overs to go.
Again a flat performance in the field, availability for next weekends trip to Kew is basically embarrassing, our hopes of staying in level 2 dwindling week by week, four games to go we need minimum of two wins. Hoipefully the return to 50/50 win lose format may help us a little.
MOM close call between Brad and Mikey, but with three wickets and 42 Brad shaves it.
