Bagshot 250 - 9 beat Farnham Royal 115 - 10

On a sunny day at Bagshot Park, I lost the toss and we were asked to bat.

We got off to a steady start but lost Doyle early on for 11 which led to Chris joining JG. The pair batted well, despite JG, hungover from Royal Ascot the day before, not looking his usual quick self between the wickets. JG fell for 30 with the score on 72. Chris was out soon after for a well made 40. Johnsy made 13 before sweeping the ball on to his own stumps and once Dunnage had came in and smashed a few boundaries was caught on the boundary. This left us 126-5 and looking in some trouble as both Brad and Mikey had also been as Ascot the day before, with Brad looking particularity horrendous. However, somehow, Brad managaed to bat relatively well before falling for a well made 43. Mikey had scored his first runs of the season and George didnt trouble the scorers. This left us 177-8.

I came in to partner Figjam and the job was to get to 200. I looked over to the scoreboard and we had 190, myself on 6* and Figjam on 8*. What happened next was quite amazing. Figjam decided he was going to take matter in to his own had and went on to smash 65 from 32 balls. Being out last ball of the innnings. I finished on 9* of our 73 run partnership. Some truly great hitting with all of the runs coming from proper cricket shots. We finished on 250 and went in to tea the happier of the teams having been asked to bat.

Farnham Royal started well , hitting 11 off Matt's first over, which led him to have a hissy fit and tell the batsman he was rubbish despite hitting him for an enormous 6. It took until the 8th over for Figjam to strike, Dunnage taking a fine catch at gully on the second attempt. Matt got the number 3 LBW before Figjam struck again bowling the number 4. Figjam then got the other opener out, again caught behind with good team work from Mikey and Doyle.

The number 5 and 6 then put on a decent partnership and we tried mixing the bowling up between myself, George and Brad. However this wasnt working, so Figjam was bought back to try and break the partnership. He managed to do so having the number 6 caught at gully, another great catch by Dunnage. Figjam completed his fifer with a caught and bowled. Wicket number 6 for Figjam was another fine catch by Doyle in the slips before George took the next fabulous catch in the slips to give Figjam his 7th victim and it didn't take long for Figjam to bowl the number 10.

The innings was wrapped up by Dunnage, who was on to bowl some spin, fighting one up for the number 9 to hit it straight to George at cow corner. George making good ground to get round and hang on to another great catch. Cue the celebrations for what was a great win to be part of.

MOM a tough one this week.... Figjam just edges it for hitting 65 off 32 balls and then coming out to bowl 15 - 8 - 38.
