BCC 2s vs Slough 4s

Winning the toss and batting first, BCC made a steady start to their innings, despite some reasonable bowling from the Slough openers. Young and Sutton reached 31-0 off 10, 74-0 off 20 and 107-0 off 30. The partnership was broken at 140 when Young was caught at mid off for 63, bringing Jem Davis to the crease. Sutton went not too soon after, trapped LBW for 73 with the score 168-2.

Dawson and Davis then put on another 40 runs in reasonable time before BCC declared on 208-2 off 50 overs, with full batting points and a couple of extra overs to try and bowl Slough out.

The Slough innings should've started in the best possible way for the Baggies; DJ Budd bowling a reasonable line and length first up, causing their young opener to edge behind to Ryan Funnell. Unfortunately, their captain standing as umpire didn't see or hear the edge and BCC were denied their first wicket of the day. We'd have to get used to that in the remaining 49.5 overs....

Budd and Jake Sunderland bowled well with the new ball, albeit with little reward. Sunderland bowled their number 2 Hashmi for 4 fairly early on, but a solid partnership between 1 Afzaal and 3 Ahmed started to unsettle the BCC bowlers. BCC turned to spin and the partnership was broken when Sutton bowled the opener for 49. The next partnership again looked dangerous until Budd caught number 3 Ahmed off the bowling of Sutton for 63.

Afgan at 4 batted solidly and would remain not out at the end of the innings, scoring 41, but wickets tumbled at the other end in fairly regular intervals. Despite several strong LBW appeals and a run out that looked incredibly 'out', Slough managed to hang on for the draw 8 down. Sutton ended on 5-40 and Sunderland 3-57.

BCC pick up 14 important points, but in other circumstances may have had the full 25!
