Losing the toss, Bagshot were asked to bat on a typical NPL pitch that looked to be consistent but slow.
Young and Dawson found scoring opportunities tough to come by against a good opening pair until Young was dismissed for 13. The innings got immediately worse as Sutton was bowled first ball, bringing J Davis to the crease who worked hard to rebuild with Dawson, who was then removed LBW for 23. Balcombe Snr also came and went for 0, being replaced by Stu Derry. Davis and Derry has a solid partnership before Davis was bowled for 25, leaving Derry batting with the tail to give us something to bowl at. Button was adjudged LBW for 0 and Funnell was bowled for 5, before Derry, trying to advance the score, was stumped for a solid 37.
One positive note is that we weren't bowled out, with Budd and Farrant remaining not out after 52 overs. NPL were tasked with scoring 140 for victory, which we felt gave us an outside chance if nothing else.
NPL made light work of the chase, with both openers passing 60 with reasonable ease. Bagshot rued a couple of missed chances, but without a substantial total to defend, it was always going to be a challenging afternoon!
