Match drawn
JB1, acting skipper in my absence, actually won a toss. We had discussed tactics for such and eventuality before I left, and via text on the day once the weather, pitch and other factors were apparent to best plot victory. So he did the opposite and decided to bat…!!
Quite rightly as it turned out, as we amassed a heady 277-4, with the skipper making yet another scratchy 131 runs. Ably assisted it looks like by Adam Carey (28) and Ryan Blake (45) and being able to declare after 45 overs.
I didn’t receive our bowling figures and who took the wickets as James only sent me picture page one of the scorebook!! From his rather shorter report than my usual one, it appears they shut up shop with 20 overs to go and could not be enticed to give their wickets away on what was a rather nice batting track once again.
Good to see a couple of new colts making their seasons debut (Jared Palmer and Richard Nash).
A good 13 points drops us down to 2nd.
This week we are away to Kew (and more possible traffic delays on the M3 due to the flower show).
Availabilities ASAP on Team App or to me on email. At the moment it looks like we are about 3 or 4 short before the usual latecomers add their availability. If you want to be considered for selection, please let me know ASAP.
Thanks
This week’s van ably driven by JB1 once more was the Toyota Hilux. Plenty of grunt up front, but not quite the space to clear all the old stock at the end…
