As this report is so so late, it will be brief.
Windsor 4's had a man in form who scored a good 140 runs out of their total of 261-4 of 42 overs.
On a Valley End pitch which was flatter than Biggin Hill's runway (which is not that flat really apparently), our 8 bowlers toiled hard. Welcome debut for Will Griffin. Ben Haslam got the main batsman out, and wickets for Will Gardner, Josh Brown, and Chuckles slowed their progress somewhat.
Our batting was somewhat similar to the away game, where we could not handle the grenade lobbing skipper, and the persistent Woody (pecker) Woodbridge at the other end. Matt Funnell could resist but a few balls, the skipper thought the best way was to swat as many as he could but eventually one pulled short yet again to long on and he was caught for 52. Josh Brown resisted for so long, there was rumours amongst the team that there this might have been a bodybuilding double, but thankfully (well obviously not thankfully) he reverted to his real identity and got caught on his first real attempt at the Big Bash for 17. Will Griffin showed how to play this rather slow stuff caressing the ball along the ground, until he too could not resist any long for 14. Adam Hendries cut a couple of excellent fours to the short grenade, but when one landed a bit closer he panicked and lobbed it back straight to the fielder for 17. With Santosh going for a duck, it was looking bleak. Josh Nakarja showed the way, by resisting all temptation. The more they crowded the bat, the more he teased them. Joined by Will Gardner, this youthful pair showed the necessary resistance for over 10 overs. Truly remarkable. However just before the close Will (having bashed a four off a leg side full toss) decided the next ball deserved similar despatch, but was bowled. Ben (never seen him bat so straight) and Josh Nakarja nearly saw it out. Josh finally succumbing on the last ball to close on 130-8
MOM: Josh N & Will G for solid defence in the face of constant aerial bombardment.
