Eversley 4's V Bagshot 3's

Toss won, and Matt Funnell and Rick Medlock opened up. Matt was looking to recover his form, but unfortunately perished early giving a simple catch to cover. Work to be done to rebuild his confidence and keeping the ball on the deck..
Matt Alexander on his first game back after holiday, looked in fine form, hitting a couple of fine fours. Unfortunately he too went soon after. Senior Growler joined Rick at the middle and they took a few overs to get used to accurate opening bowlers. Further disaster struck with Rick pushing an easy catch to mid-off, and the toss decision to bat first was looking decidedly dodgy. However mini Growler joined Senior Growler and slowly but surely they built a solid partnership. With the change bowlers not being quite so accurate SG went a bit aerial and was lucky to escape with fielders dropping him. He also hit a perfect lob wedge which landed short of the green and fortunately the fielders. It was mini G however who went next for 27, but confidence was restored a little enabling the incoming Barrie Funnell to caress the ball to all parts (well lofted over backward square leg actually). Anyhow, disaster avoided it was now a question of aiming for a decent total. Barrie kept going at over a run a ball until he too got caught for 27. Sr Growler got to his 50 and then tried to accelerate for an early declaration. So he got out slogging a full toss to deep mid wicket for 83. It was left to Santosh to chase the total up to 200 with a fine 17 not out, as we eventually declared for 201-9 off 45.2 overs.
Chuckles was forced to run upwind and Matt Alexander coming down. Unfortunately Eversley have not filled in their batting and our bowling efforts, and as Ryan F has the scorebook, the second half will be brief and partly/mostly inaccurate. Matt A got a couple of wickets in his two spells, As did Chuckles, and Mini Growler Jack got two as well (hopefully that makes six). Will Gardner got one or two, and hopefully Iain Hedley got the other one or my maths does not make 9 wickets down (??) as Eversley clung on for a draw finally making 156-9 off the 44 overs back. Probably inaccurate, but I can see the readers are nodding off. Anyone really interested can look at the scorebook, or hopefully the nice/vice skipper will change/input and verify the score on the website......

Memorable Moments, or bits to forget..... Santosh, I did pray a couple of times to no avail as the catches went down!

Well done again guys, did not get what we deserved but a solid performance.
