Datchet 4's 141 all out
Bagshot 3's 144 -3
Having won the toss again, I decided that as we had chased down Datchet before at home, we could do the same again.
Having no keeper and no equipment slightly delayed the start as we awaited the opposition keeper to arrive and loan a slightly coerced Matt Funnell into standing behind the stumps. Chuckles and Matt Alexander opened up, and a quick wicket from Chuckles had the opener caught by Richard Nash (on season debut!). It was really the Chuckles show from there on in as all the bowlers bowled well to keep the run rate down. A few too many wides than I would have liked, but Chuckles was ably supported by Matt, then Nashy (a little bit rusty... but will put it down to the ball swinging so much...), Will Gardner 4 overs 1 for 12, Jack Mini Growler, and Ben Haslam (I can open the batting if you want..). A superb goal keeping, I mean wicket keeping display from Matthew, a couple of super run outs, a few dropped catches, but a fantastic display from Chuckles 7 wickets for 58 runs, and we restricted them to 141 all out in just under the 45 over mark. Two catches for Nashy, one for Mini Growler.
A pleasant tea over at the Windsor CC pavilion, before Matt Alexander and Matthew Funnell opened up in reply. And it was a good reply too, as both players played correctly. Matthew Funnell, whereas in the past two or three league games where he gave early catching practice to any fielder, played correctly and punished the bad ball all along the ground. These two put on 69 for the opening partnership before Matt Alexander got caught. Growler Senior joined Matthew F, and we carried on the good work until I tried to smash a full toss straight to point for 18... Richard Nash and Matthew edged us closer to the target with Matthew getting his first 50 in senior cricket (without giving a chance :) ) Nashy spooned up an easy chance with the finishing line just in sight. Mini Growler then knocked off the 4 runs required with a single and a four. Matthew Funnell 57* with 11 overs to spare.
A brilliant performance from not only Chuckles and Matthew F, a great team spirit even from the guys who did not get a bowl or a bat all contributed to the win. Unlike their skipper who sulked on the boundary throughout our innings.
MOM: Joint one this week. Chuckles for his very neat scoring and Matthew for his keeping.
Memorable moments: Matthew F's on drive for 4 to get to his 50.
Picture is of Chuckles doing his proper job... Have a good holiday. Brilliant bowling.
Availability. Looking a bit short next week, please put on your availability to Pitchero ASAP! Please note we have a Funnell tea next week! Got to be worth playing...
Not looking very good for the 13th August, so could do with as many as possible making themselves available for that game!!
