Having been elevated to play at Kew's main ground, thought was it should be a lovely day, bat first, get 200+ and knock them over. 1 hour 50 min drive from HQ (for some), poor old Spud and Mini spud nearly 3 hours, and we lost the toss and put out to pasture without shade with 9 players (awaiting the spuds arrival) and Matt Funnell sub fielding with one arm and a lot of enthusiasm.
Outfield grass was long, the pitch they gave us was obviously second generation, then had try re-directing dozens of Chinese tourists who wandered aimlessly along the path across the pitch on their way to Kew Gardens... No matter...

To cut a long story short, because I am still trying to forget...

We bowled really well, Jack R early wicket, Chuckles tight as duck's what not (how did that saying come about?) Josh Nakarja got 4 fer, Senior Spud 3-7 and we had them all out for 100. OK, the wicket was barely acceptable, but we should have had tea and knocked them off.

Some unlucky plus some inept batting, did not get us off to the best start, which left Mini Spud (James White) and mini Growler (Jack Rowlett) to bat with patience and accumulate runs, showing the oldies how to bat sensibly in the conditions, but once they perished with the team at 63-4, the rest fell apart like some well cooked ribs...
93 all out, the skipper as sore as his newly twanged hamstring.
Enough said.

MOM: James White for putting up with a rubbish journey from a colts match at Eversley, bowling well and batting how it should be done. Way beyond his years.
Well done Josh Nakarja for his four wickets (albeit 2 were late chop ons).

Hopefully better things to come next week at Windlesham against table toppers Theale and Tilehurst........ (I foresee great things...)
