The Baggies got the friendly season off to a positive start at a freezing cold Chobham. Batting first, Geoff and Deano put on 110 for the first wicket. The rest of the innings was brief and chaotic as we collapsed, losing 8 wickets for 13 runs, subsiding to 163 inside the 40 overs allowed. Some of the team felt our openers had batted too slowly, but it was just as well they showed the required application as this was to prove the highest partnership by some distance.
Matt got our defence of a below par total off to a good start, removing both openers. Chobham's overseas player posed the biggest threat as he looked to advance down the wicket to all of the bowlers. Having played some very good shots, his attacking intent was to be his downfall as he was stumped by Rick off Jonny A's bowling. Runs dried up when he departed, Jonny taking 4 wickets and Mikey two good catches as they subsided to 129.
A good team effort in a topsy turvy game.
