This week we welcomed Chiswick (formerly known as Turnham Green & Polytechnic) to the home of cricket.
For probably the first time on a Sunday, the team included two ladies, Gabs Dunnage and Jeremy's niece, Amelia.
Winning the toss and batting first, Geoff got us off to a positive start, hitting a rapid 45, ably assisted by Deano. When Geoff was dismissed, Jack joined Deano, putting on a quick century partnership. Jack eventually "retiring hurt" to give others a go. Deano top scoring with 71.
Quick cameos from Matt, Baiju and Gabs saw us declare early with 248 runs on the board.
When Chiswick began their reply, our all female opening pair struggled a little against the right/left opening pair. Josh also found it difficult to adjust until he induced an edge with Jem taking a smart slip catch.
Gabs then took a brilliant catch off Jem's bowling to dismiss their other left hander. Hard work in the field from Charles, Gabs and Josh in particular, helped to slowed down their scoring as we began to make inroads into their middle order.
Jem (another slip catch), Matt, Amelia, JG and Deano all took catches as only the opener, Mason offered much resistance. He eventually fell for a well made 117, having had one lucky escape before he had reached fifty.
Gabs took the final wicket as they finished with 194.
