Baggies lose by 2 wickets

On a hot humid day at Bagshot Park the Sunday XI welcomed Sutton Challengers who filled in for Chiswick CC, with them unfortunately unable to raise a side. Geoff won the toss and elected to bat, with Taz running late Stu and Rick opened. In a somewhat frenetic start to the innings through a combination of good bowling and some average shot selection the baggies found themselves 19-4. At this point Harrison joined Stu at the crease and both dug in resolutely to slowly edge the Baggies out of trouble. During a partnership of 91 Stu passed 50 before Harrison was unfortunately caught having batted really well for 38. Ryan Funnell came to the crease with Stu on 50 odd and now looking to push on a bit, given the Baggies were not in so much trouble. Ryan batted well for his 22 before being bowled, with Chris Floater then quickly falling to the same fate. Skipper Geoff walked out in the 37th over with Stu requiring 8 runs for his 2nd Bagshot century, and aided the cause with some scampering between the wickets leading to the milestone being reached in the final over of the innings. The Baggies finishing on what at 20-4 looked to be an unlikely 204-7.

Following tea Harrison and Jimmy White opened the bowling with the Sutton Challengers openers going hard from the start. A change was quickly made with the skipper replacing Jimmy from the Cricketers end, this slowed the run rate and in Geoff's 3rd over the main aggressor was caught for a quick fire 35. Number 3 Deepak quickly came and went LBW to Chris Floater, before the other opener Kishan batted well with number 4 Sonny despite Geoffs spell of 8-0-21-1. The change to Adit from the pub end brought 2 wickets in 2 balls during his second over, Kishan falling for a well made 62 before the number 5 was trapped LBW first ball. Despite wickets falling intermittently for the rest of the innings to Neil and Harrison number 4 Sonny batted well to guide Sutton Challengers to victory by 2 wickets, finishing 47*.

MOM - Stu with his 2nd Baggies ton, but special mention to Harrison who batted really well in a tricky situation!!
