A nice early start on a Sunday morning in Woking. Funnell won the toss and invited the hosts to bat. This was kindly accepted as the hosts raced to 50 inside the first 9 overs aided by an indifferent fielding performance. A couple of wickets slowed them down but the pace was picked back as the opener and the number 4 both retired after some lusty blows. It was not our greatest hour in the field and numerous lapses of concentration allowed the home side to rattle up a decent looking 173 off their 25 overs and credit to Wood and Floater who bowled the final two overs very tightly.
Sensible batting was required and Funnell and Ghandi started us off at a good rate before Funnell was yorked for 13. Thake was quickly run out and Button was pinned in front as the Baggies slipped to 42-3. Balcombe and Ghandi rebuilt before Ghandi holed out and B White followed soon after. When Balcombe was caught on the boundary for 36 it looked like the game was slipping away. However a blistering 24 from Mills and some really good thoughtful batting from J White and C Aldridge saw us home with 11 balls and 2 wickets to spare.
A good win with the lower order contributing really well but we need to improve our ground fielding if we are to challenge this season.
