On a very pleasant Sunday morning, we arrived at the stunning ground of Windsor. With the castle as our backdrop, our captain Lewis took the toss and we were put in to bat. George and Anay got off to a good start, running very well in their first two overs. We then began to lose wickets struggling to cope with some very tight bowlers aiming for our legs! Zaara and Louis were next at the crease, they called very well but were unfortunate and found it tough to get the ball off the square. I then set Jacob and George H the target of getting some runs! They took this order very seriously and ran brilliantly. George hit some very big shots and Jacob supported very well rotating the strike and calling loudly. They were the only pair not to lose any wickets. Jake and Lewis were the last in to finish our 20 overs, they played great shots and impressively hit through the gaps. Calling however, was a slight issues but they ran very well when then did call! After a somewhat frustrating innings and losing a few too many wickets, we ended on 260-9. The team seemed disappointed with the score but after some biscuits and squash were very up for competing.
Anay opened the bowling picking up a wicket on his 4th ball. This set the tone for the rest of the game with Bagshot having taken 5 wickets in the first 5 overs leaving Windsor on the total of 216. With very few wides being bowled and some great backing up in the field, the team had set a very high standard. Anay, Lewis, George H and George S all finished with 2 wickets each and Zaara and Jake both ended with 1. The other 5 wickets were due to excellent fielding. Windsor finished on 225-15. An inspiring bowling and fielding performance from the Dukes!! Very well done!
