Our first visit to the lovely Amersham CC in a long while, day started pretty average as some Crows decided to rifle through Wills and my sandwiches, toss won I decided to go with the majority and bowl on what looked a decent wicket with a touch of grass on it.
Will and I opened and kept things fairly tight without making a breakthrough, however the introduction of Rummage bought a wicket, but the hosts played fairly well without scoring and at drinks were only 90 odd for 1.
Wickets in hand proved to be their advantage as the last ten to fifteen overs we struggled to contain them, eventually declaring on 248-7 after 52 overs. Will bowled really well in his 3 spells, Adam took 3 wickets and Brad bowled a good spell at the end in difficult circumstances, we must try harder to improve our standards on bigger grounds and defend a bit better.
Our chase started well with Andrew seeing off the new ball and Jack flowing nicely, first wicket fell in the 70s with Jack passing fifty again eventually falling in trademark fashion for 71.
Chris and Will had the platform but very cagey bowling from the left arm seamer had us in a spot of bother, and when Rummage and Mikey fell the chase was over, Brad, Adam and George managed to see us over 200 and get us maximum batting points, but from drinks we were never in the hunt.
8 points gained, we remain 2nd and have gained ground on Datchet at the top.
Home next week against Hayes, MOM Jack for his 71 just outshone Adam and Will.
