Bagshot travelled to the top of the table clash without the skipper, plus Will, Andrew and JG, so regular opening batters and bowlers absent!!
Stand in captain Adam started well by winning the toss, and decided to bat after a bit of pre match advice from a former BCC player now residing with our opponents.
Mikey and James were our new opening pair, Mikey falling for 5, Chris joined James and they took the score to 97 before James went for a well crafted 43. Again wickets in hand was key and at drinks after 26 overs we had barely reached 100, but only for the loss of 2 wickets, allowing our aggressive middle order the freedom to bat. Willow joined Chris who soon went for 55, Rummage joined Willow and I am led to believe a bit of carnage ensued, Willow racing to 84 off 69 balls, Rummage 44 off 34, where we eventually declared on 251-7.
Innings had 12 sixes, including one from Chris, I cant believe I missed that, a proper Halley's Comet moment!!
Adam decided to start the 2nd innings with the old ball, Jonny A and Bradders opening the bowling, Brad removing the top 4 and Jonny no 5 with the score on 30!! Datchet then decided to play a little more cautiously, eventually the new ball was taken without success, and Jonny and Brad were drafted back on, wickets again fell, Jonny taking 2 in the last over including a great catch by Jake with one ball to spare.
Jonny finishing with 5-18 off 20 overs, with 11 maidens, Brad 4-28 off 15 overs, 6 maidens.
MOM - Jonny A superb effort and match winning performance. Willo, Chris, James and Rummage mentions for the batting and also Brad with the ball too.
Sounded like a fantastic performance by everyone, very proud of the lads to play so well in my absence, serious selection headaches in a good way for me next week.
