On another glorious day at headquarters we welcomed Datchet 2s with a squad that was not really ready for cricket. A day at the test match on Friday followed by a very late morning saw half the squad below their best to say the least, toss won, we fielded as Jack was running late due to work commitments. Think the boys were happy to get the fielding out of the way!
Datchet started solidly, and we rotated from the cricketers end, runs flowed and our fielding and general demeanor was not its usual vibrant self, and a very sloppy display saw the visitors amass 241-9.
Jonny again the pick with another 5 wickets. Well batted to Mark George a fine 86.
Tea taken, Mikey/Jack/Rummage/Brad all perished early, so Jem and Geordie Doyle dug in, and grafted away for a fair few overs, until with the score on 86 Doyle ran himself out, 1 run later Jem holed out to mid on, so the tail was left with 14 overs to bat. I put myself up to 8 after my heroics with the Sunday team last weekend, Will soon joined me as Adam was bowled but we were pretty trouble free in seeing off the spin attack and limping past 100 to gain one more point.
Pretty shabby day at the office all round, 3 big games to go three wins we go up, simple as that. Off to Wooburn next Saturday.
MOM: Me for having to put up with it all!!
