Bagshot vs Harefield
By Adam Passfield
Bagshot 96-3 beat Harefield 95-10
After a disappointing couple of weeks, we traveled to Harefield, who were relegated with us last season.
Toss lost and we were asked to have a bowl, which was going to be my choice anyway had I won. Matt started where he left off the week before bowling extremely economically and Figjam backing him up well. It was Figs who got the breakthrough, after building a bit of pressure, the opener had a big swipe and was clean bowled. The other opener, a young lad was battling really well and giving little chances without really being a threat of scoring big runs. Matt then got the next couple of wickets first and LBW and secondly a caught and bowled. Everyone shocked that he managed to hang on to it.
George was introduced to the attack and again kept the run rate down along with Matt who was still going at the other end. No first success until drinks, when Jonny replaced George and got his first wicket, bowling the number 5. George then came back on at the other end to replace Matt who ended with fine figures of 14 -2-15. The young opener was still going, and reached his 50 but unfortunately got out the very next ball to George. George then picked up another wicket, bowling the number 7 with a very good yorker.
Jonny picked up his second and third wicket, first caught by JG and the second a smart catch behind the stumps from Mikey, who yet again kept very well. I replaced George and got the final two wickets, with Harefield being all out for 95. Yet again a great all round bowling and fielding display from everyone.
Our reply got off to a steady start before JG was caught for 8. Doyle looked in great touch, hitting some glorious straight and cover drives. Doyle was the next man out, caught for 28, which left it down to Chris, who for the third week running looked in fabulous form, to go about chasing down the low total. Johnsy came and went for 10, to an unbelievable catch in the covers from a Harefield youngster. With the skies getting greyer, Chris looked to get it over and done with hitting 14 runs off an over, including a flat 6 pulled to square leg. That left Figjam to hit the winning runs off the next over to secure a 7 wicket win, with Chris finishing 39*
A great all round team performance with everyone chipping in. MOM goes to Jonny for picking up 3 wickets and keeping it extremely economical, finishing with figures of 10 - 3 - 11.
