BCC2s vs Binfield 1s
By Dan Sutton
A disappointing day for the 2s in their first home game of the campaign, with play abandoned at the half way point due to incessant rain.
Winning the toss, BCC inserted Binfield in the knowledge of forecasted rain later on in the day. Binfield started their innings well with some lusty blows from one opener, before being bowled by George Whatling for 18. Simon Farrant reduced Binfield to 50-2 before a further two wickets from Whatling put BCC in a commanding position, Binfield 69-4.
A solid partnership of 60 then ensued between numbers 4 and 6 before Ryan Funnell caught well off Amol Veer to take Binfield to 129-5. A further 24 runs were added before Whatling took a good catch in the deep off the bowling of Jem Davis, then 7th wicket came in somewhat fortunate circumstances, with Binfield's number 4 run out at the non-strikers end off the fingertip of Sutton bowling, leaving Binfield 157-7.
Binfield's number 8 hit a run-a-ball 39 before being bowled by Alex Dunnage in the 43rd over, completing Binfield's innings at 205 all out. George Whatling was pick of the bowlers with 10-2-42-3.
Despite playing all of the first half through persistent drizzle, both captains shook hands after the tea break with the rain becoming heavier and the outfield getting incredibly wet.
7 points a piece and all other games in the Division washed out too.
