Visiting one of the most picturesque grounds, we produced one of our most disappointing performances of the season.
Batting first, we lost JG in the first over before Matthew and Taz put on fifty to see us to 56-2. What then followed was dismal as most of us contrived to lose our wickets and subside to 93 all out inside thirty of our forty overs.
Following a good tea, I asked the guys for a positive response in the field and I felt quite humbled by the commitment everyone then showed.
We lost JG to a dislocated finger in trying to take a catch, early on off Jonny. (Thanks go to James for sub fielding in for him and to Patricia for taking him to hospital).
Josh Balcombe and Jonny A opened up and both bowled tight, testing spells, well supported by Del and Josh Brown. At the drinks break they had struggled to 39 off 21 overs on what turned out to be a tricky wicket to bat on. Catches from Stu, Matthew, both Josh's and Del saw us take five wickets before they finally reached the target in the 35th over. A much better second half, if only.......
